Drill and Blast Contracting
Western Australia’s boutique drill and blast contractor, Goldfields born and bred.
Overview
ASD delivers complete drill and blast operations for open pit mining clients across Western Australia, from small, single-pattern jobs through to large-scale, multi-rig production programs. Every job is run by an experienced, safety-focused crew and backed by an in-house maintenance team, so your pattern goes in on schedule and your fleet stays turning.
We manage projects across a wide range of ground and blasting conditions, drawing on deep hands-on experience with Atlas Copco and Epiroc blast hole equipment to deliver consistent, accurate results, pattern after pattern, shot after shot.

How We Operate
Consistency comes from process. Every ASD drill and blast crew works to the same operational standard, regardless of site or scope:
- Every driller completes a daily pre-start checklist before the rig turns a wheel
- All drillers are assessed for competence and operate machines strictly per the manufacturer's operations manual
- A Daily Drilling Log is completed for every shift and handed to the Drill & Blast Supervisor at shift end
- The Drill & Blast Supervisor checks every log for correct RLs and shot numbers before it's signed off and passed on to the client
It’s a simple discipline, but it’s what lets our clients trust the numbers coming off site without having to double-check our work.
Safety-First, By Design
Safety isn’t a slogan at ASD, it’s the first item on our core values list for a reason. Every task starts with a risk assessment appropriate to its complexity, whether that’s a quick Take-5 for routine work or a full Job Hazard Analysis for anything higher-risk or non-routine. Daily Pre-Shift Instruction meetings and weekly Safety Toolbox sessions keep every crew member briefed, heard, and accountable, because our people are what makes the job possible in the first place.
The Fleet Behind the Service
Our drill and blast crews run a mix of Atlas Copco and Epiroc blast hole rigs, including the D9C/F9C crawler and ROC L7, each fitted out with closed, pressurised, air-conditioned cabs and fire suppression as standard. See our Blast Hole Drill Rigs page for full specifications.
