Overview
With our dedicated GC rigs available for grade control and shallow exploration drilling, we have the equipment and personnel you require to keep the rods spinning and your company winning.
ASD runs track mounted Epiroc D65 rigs set up with Metzke sampling systems, purpose-built for grade control work in Goldfields ground. Because grade control drives the dig plan, the value of the job sits in sample quality and turnaround rather than metres alone. Our crews are trained to protect both.

Sample Integrity
A grade control program is only as good as the samples that come out of it. ASD rigs are set up with Metzke sampling systems, and our crews work to a consistent standard of sample collection, splitting, bagging and labelling so your geologists receive representative material with the paperwork to match.
- Cyclone and splitter maintained and cleaned to a documented routine
- Consistent sample intervals with clear labelling and numbering
- Hole records checked and signed off before they are passed to the client
- Close communication with site geology so plan changes are picked up the same shift
How We Operate
Grade control crews work to the same operational discipline as our drill and blast crews:
- All drillers are assessed for competence and operate machines strictly per the manufacturer’s operations manual
- A daily log is completed for every shift and checked before it is handed over
- Any variance from the plan is raised with site supervision on the shift it happens
Safety-First, By Design
Every task starts with a risk assessment appropriate to its complexity, whether that is a quick Take-5 for routine work or a full Job Hazard Analysis for anything higher-risk or non-routine. Daily Pre-Shift Instruction meetings and weekly Safety Toolbox sessions keep every crew member briefed, heard and accountable.
The Fleet Behind the Service
Our grade control work is run on Epiroc D65 track crawlers set up with Metzke sample systems, with closed, pressurised, air-conditioned cabs and fire suppression fitted as standard.
